FIG.org Task List
These are roughly in order of priority...
- Finish rewriting the Vision.
- A glossary, to reduce confusion for new people. Link the
acronyms page to the definition of FIG.
- Here are some specific roles that need to be filled:
- web page guru (HTML and layout wizard)
- graphic artist, for logos, and anything else they feel would fit
our project
- creative writer/visionary
- legal beagle - somebody who is authoritative on international
copyright laws
- journalist/editor, in the sense of being able to clearly and
minimally communicate written ideas, including refining other peoples'
shots in the dark
- Help Michael put together a home page, since he doesn't know much
about computers.
- Switch from Texinfo to DocBook when it is stable enough, or
another SGML equivalent that would allow us to make really spiffy
HTML and printed output.
- Work on standardizing digital pedigrees, and writing more tools.
- Computer resources are also important: we want to administer our
own mailing lists and web site (preferably GNU or GNU/Linux boxes, but
we'll accept {Free,Net,Open}BSD boxes, too... just so long as we can
run only free software)
- FIG.org needs strong crypto (just for authenticity and integrity,
not confidentiality). Support the psst... and GPG projects
to replace SSH and PGP.
- Write some HTML coding standards that FIG.org adheres to, so that
other FIGs have some general guidelines on how to make their site work
well. Implement as much of it in software as is possible, much like
Autoconf and Automake did for the GNU standards.
